If you’re anything like me, when the temperatures climb, you just want to be in the water. I know you’re applying your mineral SPF30 sunscreen religiously, but sometimes things happen and you forget to reapply on time. You’re left with a painful sunburn at the end of a fun day in the sun. Read on for 4 tips to treat your sunburn.
4 Tips to Treat Your Sunburn
1. Soak a washcloth in a bowl with skim milk and ice cubes. Apply it to the sunburned area for about 10 minutes.
2. Gently rub in pure aloe vera gel 3 to 5 times daily to help burns heal more quickly.
3. Slather plain yogurt onto the burned area and leave it on for 30 minutes. The lactic acid helps soothe and calm the skin.
4. Take a cool shower, it will feel better than a hot shower plus, hot water will further dehydrate the skin.
Did you know it’s best to stay out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. when the sun’s burning rays are the strongest? When you do go out, be sure to wear a hat and sunglasses along with your sunscreen.
